President’s Challenge Closing Date 16th Feb 2024 (see note below)

Are you up for a little bit of fun in the form of a slightly different competition?

We’ve borrowed an idea from Berwick Viewfinders Camera Club, with some modification.

The competition is the President’s Challenge.

Outline

1. The President, Paul, creates one image.
2. A judge views it for just 20 seconds and gives it a score out of 15. The score is sealed in an 

    envelope until HPS meeting night.

3. Those entering the comp also create one image.
4. Members’ images are shown on competition night, the judge viewing each for just 20

 seconds and scoring each out of 15. The idea is for members to beat the President’s score. 

5. The President’s score is revealed.
6. Anyone beating the President’s score will receive a small prize.

TO BE IN IT:

1. Create just one image.
2. Label the image like this – your member number-preschall- title.jpg

       For example: 99-preschal-bird on a wire.jpg

2. Email to Wayne, competition steward at competitionsteward@hillsphotographicsociety.org.au

    RATHER THAN THE USUAL SYSTEM ON THE WEBSITE

Keep to the usual dimensions of no greater than 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels high

** CLOSING DATE FOR YOUR ENTRY IS FRIDAY FEB 16.**  If email system is not restored bring your image on the night on a memory stick.

And now, the topic – UNREALITY.  (What the…?)

DEFINITIONS:

1. The quality of being imaginary, illusory, or unrealistic.
2. The quality of not being or NOT SEEMING to be real
3. Visionary
4. Something that lacks the substance of being real.

PROVISO!

The image must be created between now and the closing date, Feb 16th.You cannot use something from your library of images.

  POSSIBILITIES?

* Composites – where the subject is obviously in an unrealistic situation. e.g. the appearance of 

   a person holding a car above his or her head.  (Illusory)

  Note: any item included in an overall composite image is your work (nothing from the internet, no AI)

* Create a fantasy – supernatural?

* An image that suggests a utopian, unrealistic social situation. (Visionary)

So, come on – have a go.
