Matting Workshop

Being run by Paul, Mike and David, we’ll be learning about creating matt boards for our printed photos. Please come along to learn and enjoy.

The objective is to give members an insight into the skills of matting/framing prints.

If you plan to attend and would like to have a print or two matted, even fully framed you will need to bring:

• the print, of course. Can I suggest a 5×7, 6×8 or an 8×10 as these will use less matt board.
• a frame to suit your print, if you’d like to go the whole way. I suggest an 8×10 frame for a 5×7, an 11×14 for a 6×8 or an 8×10, a 10×13 for an 8×10. These are suggestions only as you can matt up/frame a 5×7 in a larger frame. The placement of the print inside the matt, the space at to, sides and bottom is a personal decision. (see image below)
• If you’d like to matt up a larger print and even finalise the framing of it, we can use a larger piece of matt board and set a small charge to cover materials e.g. A final frame of 16”x20”, using a quarter of a whole sheet of matt board AND I would think a quarter of a piece of self-adhesive foam-core mounting  board.
