“This month’s competition is to try your hand at macro or close-up photography to show a detail in your subject.
One thing about macro and close-up photography, no matter where you are, right this moment, there is a fascinating subject waiting to be photographed.
This subject is similar to filling the frame but closer again. For example, Spider webs, insects and bugs etc. make great subjects. Because they are small, and if you don’t have a macro lens, displaying the whole of the subject, is acceptable. But don’t be afraid to demonstrate a little artistic license and instead of showing the whole, show part of, such as the interlocking fingers of one part of the Venus fly trap; have the stamens of a flower in focus and have the colourful petals as a beautiful, blurred background, or perhaps an ornate door knob on a door. These are just a few examples to get you thinking. Remember, there are other things, even around the home that are suitable for macro/closeup photography apart from fauna and flora.
Have fun and we can’t wait to see what you come up with.”
Anyone is welcome to attend the evening, however only members may enter.
Maximum of 4 images per person, colour or black and white.
Dimensions for submitted images are unlimited. File size not to exceed 4mB. Colour space is to be sRGB and the image is to be in the jpeg format. Images should named like this: 01-1021-nameoffile.jpg, meaning: membership number – month and year – name of file.jpg.
